Wisconsin Badgers' Bronson Koenig Hurt During Milwaukee Bucks Workout

After seeing his name left off and fellow teammate Nigel Hayes’ name on the 2017 NBA Draft Combine invitation list, Bronson Koenig made it known that he was going to work hard and fight to achieve his dream of making the NBA.

A couple of days later, Koenig got the invite to workout with a few teams- including home state team Milwaukee Bucks. As one of five seniors and six players to work out with the Bucks, Koenig earned the opportunity to showcase his skills to the team and will hopefully earn more chances.

Unfortunately for Koenig, some bad news came out of his workout with the Bucks on Thursday, with reports of him sustaining an ankle injury during the day.

It was said he had a great work out, up until the injury, but was unable to finish the entire day, completing about 75 percent before having to sit out.

Koenig and Virginia’s London Perrantes got tangled up, causing Koenig to roll his ankle pretty badly.

Joining the Bucks and Koenig on the day, other than Perrantes, was freshman forward Mo Wagner out of Michigan. Wagner turned it on the latter half of his freshman campaign and announced he would be testing the NBA Draft waters without signing an agent- meaning he can return to school before the end-of-May deadline.

Moses Kingsley (Arkansas), Andrew White (Syracuse), and J.J. Frazier (Georgia) were the other seniors that took part in the workout.

Milwaukee  has the 17th and 48th selection in the NBA Draft this year. One year ago they took Thon Maker with the tenth pick in the draft and then followed it up with Rookie of the Year-hopeful Malcolm Brogdon in the second round, also out of Virginia.

There has been no full diagnosis on Koenig’s ankle at this point as it appears to be just a rolled ankle that will need some time to fully heal.
