Sprinkled Toffee Homemade Valentine’s Candy

sprinkled toffee Valentine's Day candy recipe

Years ago, I took a cooking class at my elementary school. It was unconventional to say the least, but it was fun to explore what became a passion for cooking and baking. We created cookbooks, writing the recipes we made throughout the session and coloring a cover that was later bound. One of the recipes we made was saltine toffee, which became a family favorite because we almost always had the ingredients on hand and it only takes a few minutes to make.

I still like making saltine toffee on occasion for the same reasons. I just have to have a plan to share in mind before I start because we’re all addicted to it. So, I sprinkled it up for Valentine’s Day and made pretty little gift bags to share.

I sent a sneak preview to my friend Christina who immediately asked where I found the sprinkles. I desperately wanted a mix of pink, red, white and a few hearts, but Target’s selection was extremely limited. However, there was a can of funfetti frosting sitting right next to them with red, white and heart sprinkles, for just $1.50 – all of the sprinkles were $4 or more, so win, right? I also had leftover pink sprinkles from Ani’s party, which is another little secret I use from time to time. Most grocery store bakeries are happy to sell you sprinkles for a nominal fee and they have them in individual colors! The options are endless! Anyways, enough about my ridiculous sprinkle obsession, let’s get to one of the easiest homemade Valentine’s candy recipes, shall we?
