Prep Roundup: G K Girls Basketball Beats Woodstock North, 17 15

In a game laden with mistakes by both teams, the Genoa-Kingston girls basketball team beat Woodstock North 17-15 on Wednesday.

"I think it was two teams that just did not play well at the same time," Cogs coach Kyle Henkel said. There were a ton of turnovers and jump balls. It was one of the sloppiest games I've ever seen."

Hannah Schwichtenberg led the Cogs (5-1) with six points and Taylor Gilbert added five. The Cogs are back in action Friday as part of a doubleheader with the boys against Oregon in Genoa.

"(The win) was the only positive," Henkel said. "We have got a lot of work ahead of us."

G-K boys lose again to Rochelle: In a rematch of a pool play game from Sycamore's Strombom tournament, the Cogs lost 55-44.

Griffin Hansen had 15 points and Nate Nessler had 11.

The Cogs were up 18-16 at half but gave up 21 points in the third quarter.

H-BR boys fall to Woodstock North: The Royals fell 61-48 behind a season-high 16 from Tate Sanderson.

Cameron Rompf added 10 for the Royals.

Kish women fall to Elgin: The Kougars were 67-43 losers despite a lead after the first quarter and a seven-rebound game from DeKalb grad Danielle Stiles.
