Oh, heel no!
First Lady Melania Trump debuted the peak in flood fashion Tuesday as she and President Trump headed to Texas to survey damage from Hurricane Harvey.
The First Lady was snapped stepping out of the White House in 4-inch stiletto heels, a questionable choice for visiting an area ravaged with record-breaking flooding. She matched the heels with high-water black pants and completed the look with aviators and an Army green bomber jacket.
Twitter users were baffled by the choice in shoewear and wasted no time criticizing the First Lady for forgoing rain boots or even tennis shoes.
“Louboutin makes a waterproof stiletto? Who knew? #resist,” @Unseen17 wrote.
“Not an expert, but are stiletto heels the best footwear for a disaster zone?” comedian Michael Ian Black wrote.
“Who the f--k wears stiletto heels to a disaster area?” @PaladinCornelia wondered.
“If Michelle Obama had worn 6 inch stiletto Louboutin's to a disaster site, Tucker Carlson's head would have literally exploded,” Lara Cohen said.
“45 & @FLOTUS ‘touring’ Houston; dressed like they r going to the club; stiletto heels & all. Baffling & insensitive. 2 scoops of stupidity!” wrote user @debbikutner.
“Frankly I think a 12 inch stiletto heel makes perfect sense if youre trying to stay elevated above the water line &also catch a fish or two,” said @jason_malmberg.

The Office of the First Lady shamed commenters for their focus on her feet.
“It's sad that we have an active and ongoing natural disaster in Texas, and people are worried about her shoes," Stephanie Grisham, the FLOTUS Communications Director, told CNN’s Kate Bennett.
.@realdonaldtrump khaki pants and stiletto will really say to the people of TX, "I'm going to really help here, this isn't just a photo op"— Paula Fuentes (@pfuentes1098) August 29, 2017
Does Melania think it's safer for her to wear stiletto's so that she's on higher ground when visiting Texas?🤔 https://t.co/OkBUhBJxAx— Lauren Targaryen (@LaurenJergi_96) August 29, 2017
Even comedian Kathy Griffin— who is an outspoken critic of the Trump administration— urged her Twitter followers to pay attention to the bigger issues at hand.
"There are many reasons the Trump administration concerns me... Melania Trump's shoes aren't one of them. Not today kids," she wrote.
Meanwhile, Melania Trump herself seemed to pay no mind to her pump pundits, and issued a statement on Hurricane Harvey devoid of any shoe references.
The First Lady praised the "strength and resilience" of the people of Texas, and maintained that she would be doing her best to aid recovery efforts in any way she could.
"I want to be able to offer my help and support in the most productive way possible, not just through words, but also action," the statement read. "What I found to be the most profound during the visit was not only the strength and resilience of the people of Texas, but the compassion and sense of community that has taken over the State."
The Trumps plan to visit Corpus Christi and the state capital of Austin, but will avoid the hardest hit areas in Houston, in order to not “disrupt” the safety efforts.
As many guessed she would, the First Lady changed while on Air Force One, stepping onto Texas ground in white sneakers. A much more sensible choice.
