Israeli Prime Minister's Wife Sara Netanyahu To Be Indicted Friday On Fraud Allegations

Israeli's attorney general will file an indictment against Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Friday for her role in what has become known as the "Residences Scandal," according to multiple reports Thursday.

Netanyahu will be indicted on criminal charges of fraud following an investigation into allegations she used $112,000 of public funding for private purposes, including dinner parties and personal chefs at the family's residence, Israeli National News reported.

She is also alleged of having moved furniture from the couple's official residence and her husband's office to their personal house.

Israeli police questioned Netanyahu in December 2015. Officials recommended in May she be charged with fraudulent acquisition, fraud, and breach of public trust.

Netanyahu's lawyer said the allegations are "ridiculous" and evidence of "persecution of the Netanyahu family."
