Gazette CLARK’S CROSSING

A year ago, the U.S. Board on Geographic Names approved an application to name the Yellowstone County locale Clarks Crossing. The name originated from the location where Clark, on his return to St. Louis, had the Corps of Discovery’s remaining horses cross to the south side of the Yellowstone River. The objective was to take the horses on an overland shortcut to the Mandan villages.
